Awards can be configured with a new optional feature to allow for approval-based recognitions. This is available during award configuration and is limited to the Manager
Awards configuration type.
Currently, any recognition issued with an award that requires approval will be held for review, and go through a short process in order to release it. The approval can be done by
the recipients Direct Supervisor. Alternatively, the Award Owner can also act as an approver by following the same workflow as the Direct Supervisor outlined below.
The intent of this feature is to utilize this for larger point awards - such as bonuses or performance incentives that may need to go through a quick vetting process. It is not
recommended to utilize this for every-day smaller recognitions.
How to configure a new Award that requires Manager approval.

Create a new Manager Award , and define the Award owner in the Description tab.
2. Navigate to the Settings tab and target the award to specific roles, teams, or users.
1. Allocate the budget as desired
2. Select the ' Recognition approval' option, and fill in the variable fields to define the time that an approval is available before being auto-rejected.
3. Select options surrounding notifications & budget visibility
4. Select visibility & publicity settings
Once all options have been selected, click ' Publish'

The award is now created, and eligible managers (HR Admins and Local Managers) as defined in Step 2 can now issue a recognition, which will automatically be held for review.
Issuing an Approval-based recognition.
The process of issuing an approval-based recognition is exactly the same as any other recognition. You first select a user (or users), write a message, select a tag, and finally,
select the award that requires approval.
The issuer is notified in the recognition modal that this award requires approval.
In the above scenario, the test user 'Adam Monte' has the following Supervisor: 'Dagmara Parawaniara'. Dagmara would receive an email and in-app notification of a pending
approval.
Manager Approval Workflow
If a manager user (HR admin or Local Manager) has pending approval(s), they can complete this workflow by signing into Cooleaf on the web, and going to the HR Admin by
clicking the Icon in the bottom left corner.
From the dashboard, select the ' Approval Center' icon on the left navigation bar.
The Approval Center gives you an accurate and up-to-date snapshot on what is currently pending approval. You can also review past recognitions that were Approved or Rejected.
You can view an individual approval by clicking the '. . .' under the Actions row. Click ' View Details'.
The ' View Details' screen will show all of the relevant information about the pending Recognition. Admins can utilize this information to make an informed decision on whether this recognition should be approved or rejected.
Approvers have the ability to change the amount of points to be issued as well, should they see the need.
Rejecting an approval-based recognition.
If ' Reject' is selected, a pop-up offers the Approver the opportunity to give a reason as to why.
Approving an approval-based recognition.
Selecting ' Approve' brings up one final pop-up for confirmation.
Once the final Approval is selected, the recognition is issued and the points are sent to the recipient.
